Companies’ Vulnerabilities seen through a Risk Manager Analysis

The technological dependency of the companies towards digital systems is so high that a bad analysis of its exposure to risks can be fatal for the business. During several years, the companies’ CEOs and boards have been focusing on data losses, which led them to develop backup strategies and to multiply the interconnection devices and systems.

The 4.0 Factory hasn’t been sufficiently analyzed, mainly if we talk about the vulnerability component of its production and supervision tools. Today, a major part of the global architectures including connected systems within a company has to be re-thought and re-built.

The economic geostrategic challenges are alas not understood by the heads of most of the SMEs, while cyberattacks should be apprehended within the context of the different economic zones of the company.

As we speak, in many structures, the digital defense strategy is focused on the Information Systems and based on a very “techie” approach and culture. Meanwhile, challenges are more and more financial, and a company should be able to analyze its own vulnerability through different prisms.

Technology or, better said, digital technological tools are attack vectors or even weapons which will be used against the company. It is hence mandatory to have a vision based on a 360° in-depth analysis.

To do so, we have to develop a different culture of risks, starting by sharply identifying all the reasons to be able to anticipate the mechanisms which could be displayed against the company, and in the meanwhile to apprehend all the consequences the company should face in different scenarios in order to strengthen the whole defense.
